sunshine day

I’m not going to say much about the elections (you did vote, right? Good.) I can say fairly emphatically that I am sick to death of all the coverage – from the absolute waste of resources that is “attack ads” to every commentator on the news (and probably the Weather Channel, haven’t watched lately) giving their opinion on what will be the outcome. What it means.

If you listen to the rhetoric from one side, any day now the terrorists will over-run our country and we’ll all be forced to worship Allah, plus have higher taxes. If you listen to the idiots from the other side, our soldiers will stop stirring up civil war in the middle east and be home by Christmas, plus we’ll have 100% employment and national health care.

If history is our guide, a whole lot of nothing will happen. Then, nothing will continue to happen. We’ll hear squabbling and “he said / she said” and finger pointing and the mess will just stay a mess. I’m sure re-election campaigns will be started by this weekend for those just elected, and “kick the bum out of office” campaigns will start even sooner for those that lost last night. What a waste.

Gee, bear, optimistic much?

Calvin acting crabby

I hope things improve. I hope Americans regain their common sense and we begin to lead the world instead of trying to tear it apart and rebuild it to suit our whims. We have a great fucking country, and certainly we can find better things to do than bomb the crap out of people so they feel inclined to become a democracy. And don’t even get me started on all the anti-homosexual bullshit here at home.

  1. Amen. The only thing that makes me sicker than the attack ads are the obviously-posed-for “Happy Family” photos, the “Relaxed Politician” photos, the “Regular Guy” photos, and the “I’m a Texan” photos. It just SCREAMS “Bullshit!”.

  2. Too much information. I have a neighbor with no TV and no computer. They basically live their life the same way they have for the last umpteen years. Its funny how our perception of “life” can be so easily altered by what we perceive is affecting us through TV.
I agree with Ben. Who cares about all the opinions being thrown at us as to what may happen somewhere, sometime in the future. I’d rather spend my time living what is happening right here, right now.
