Heartless

This is my second attempt to talk about my day. Harumph.

First of all, we were up early (no work or school, so of course the kids were up before we were). We decided to tidy up the yard a little.

A “little” being at least two hours of mowing, weed-eating, watering, trimming, picking up, putting down, etc. After this I collapse onto our (now neatly trimmed) lawn and looked up at the clouds.

“Look, that one looks like a donut!”

My wife ignored me. My son, however, took it as a hint:

“Let’s go on a bike ride, daddy!” Read the rest of this entry »

Have a heart!

Oh crap.

I had this fantastic entry about my outing with the kids to the park, and I lost it.  And I’m in no mood to type it again at the moment.

Here’s the summary:

Saturday.  Mowed lawn.  Went to park on the bike with the kids.  Pictures coming when I relocate the camera.  Didn’t have a heart attack.   Learned how to lose a long post.

This is SO me

Baby steps

So, I bought a heart rate monitor!  Isn’t that great?

(uh, sure, is what you should be saying now)

So I went for a walk with it.  With the dogs.  We didn’t dawdle, but we didn’t run either.  I was pretty impressed, I averaged 125 bpm (”beats per minute,” I had to look that up) and was quite excited.

Then I started looking, and for somebody my age, etc, I should be averaging 140 bmp at least, just to burn some fat (which is really all I need to be doing right now).  So next time I’ll leave the dogs here and see what I can do by running.  Some.
