It’s Friday, almost noon. We had a decent turkey day, as turkey days go, although my family still doesn’t quite function on the same “clock” as my kids. For example, we arrived at my folks around noon, lunch was scheduled for 2:00.
About the only thing to eat? chips and hot sauce. Or jalapeno cheese. My baby? Not thrilled with the choices. It’s our fault for not brining our own snacks, I know, but still – Thanksgiving is the one day a year you can count on overeating. We were thinking there may be fruit, veggies, maybe cheese and crackers. I dunno.
Anyway we ate lots, drank some, ate some more, played outside. Then we went to my sis-in-laws and managed to eat MORE (pie this time) then drove to another sis-in-laws where we were to stay the night. We watched (first time for me) “Elf” and laughed ourselves silly.
This morning? Pancakes!
Now my wife is walking the younger kids around outside; the sun is out and it’s in the mid-60’s, and the baby and I are hanging out; me with a borrowed laptop and she with a borrowed telephone.
Things are good.
In a few hours we will have eaten another thanksgiving dinner. And the Aggies will be taking on the Longhorns. After that – after dark – we’ll pile in the van for the four hour trip home. At that point I can seriously catch up on all the blogs I’ve been missing for the last 36 hours.
Time for some more coffee. Enjoy your day, everyone…
