That’s my fun day

‘Tis sunday here. Probably lots of places, come to think of it. Anyway, so far we have managed to:

a) get up, dressed, fed, and to church. On time.

b) clean the kitchen

c) watch an episode of Smallville on DVD

d) ride our bike to the store and get milk, pullups, and a pumpkin

e) notice that there is another tropical depression / possible future hurricane near the gulf

f) realize (in the nick of time) that the soccer game we were going to go see is actually an away game, which of course would mean we’d have very good seats and nobody spilling cokes on us, but not so much soccer to watch

All that and it’s only 1:15! Whew.

About the pumpkin thing: my son is doing something at school this week and he requires a pumpkin. I suspect it has to do with “fall” or “harvest,” since they’ve decided that if we can’t have prayer in school we can’t celebrate pagan things like witches and ghosts, either. Anyway.

He wanted to get two pumpkins, one for school and one ‘to get the seeds out’, but we reminded him for the eleven hundredth time that around here, the moment you cut a pumpkin open, it starts to rot; so you can only carve it and expect it to make it about 24 hours before it’s a slimely lump of smellishness. My wife told him that when he grows up he’s welcome to move somewhere that pumpkins last longer; but I don’t think she really meant it.

So, how’s your day?
