How old do I feel? Let me count the ways.

This is a sad kind of blog entry to write, but what the hell, I’ve done worse. Ahem.

  1. My niece returned from a school outing yesterday, and I went to pick her up while my wife and kids circled the block in the minivan. While I watched 1,000 kids (it seemed) grab their luggage from piles in the parking lot, I realized that I was actually older than some of the other parents waiting to pick up their kids.
  2. My wife and I fell into bed last night, and as the house got quiet (except for a commotion coming from the boys. Us: “What’s wrong?” Them: “We’re just playing ‘Trouble.'”) My wife looks at me and asked me if I felt romantic, and I realize I had a chance for some hot monkey lovin’ for the first time in a while (we’ve been busy, ya know?).. but what can I say other than “as long as I don’t have to move.” Yeah, I hurt my back over the weekend. I’m such a weenie. Most guys would have just sucked it up (heh) but no, I think I was just still exhausted.
  3. From what, you might ask? We had a birthday party with fifteen (15!) or so kids, aged 4 to 10. Yes, it was a lot. Yes, it was fun. And it was so cool to see the look in their eyes (the parents) when they realized we were crazy enough to keep everyone for a couple hours so they could go do whatever.
  4. The kid chorus of “robots in disquise” was pretty cool though.
  5. I’m so lame I haven’t uploaded any pictures. But try and picture ten pounds of candy, that should tide you over for a while.
  6. This morning I actually ran, for the first time since last wednesday. I guess my idea of a tapering off week went a little overboard, after running 21 and 17 miles the two weeks prior. But I managed four this morning, and it was 80 degrees out, and I’m okay. So that’s that.
  7. There was something else, but I can’t remember it. They say that memory is (one of) the first things to go.

  1. Fish camp already?? Yikes! And, yeah, technically, I’m old enough to have a freshman in college, too. But really, I’m having a hard enough time being a mom of a 1st grader.
