Okay – is it a guy thing?
- I think Bullitt is one of the great movies. Why?Because it’s a snapshot.
- Old buildings in and around San Francisco that aren’t there anymore.
- Cars going fast, and sometimes crashing.
- Cops that wear suits. Not just a jacket, but the tie, everything. Even on Sunday.
- Pan Am and Trans World Airways.
- No cell phones, beepers, PDA’s, GPS. Pay phones. Timing.
- An international airport without a two hour wait to get to the plane.
- People smoked.
- Cops could flash their badge and get someone to do something.
- Did I mention fast cars? Things blowing up?
- The music! Or lack thereof. Notice the silence. It’s great.
- Steve McQueen.
- Angry Police Chief long before Beverly Hills Cop or Lethal Weapon or 48 Hours or ___.This was on the other night, and I stayed up to watch it, and when I went to bed with these thoughts in my head I babbled to my wife about just watching “Bullitt” (again) and she said “oh, right.” That’s why I ask if it’s a guy thing.
