I find myself inexplicably tonite without a Firefly disc to watch, or any Netflix action for that matter.
So of course I immediately think of y’all, my readers, and realize that you want up to the minute info on my so-called life.
So here it is: we bought a phone today.
I know, there are some people out there (read that as “normal”) that don’t think too much about buying a phone. It’s something you just DO. Well, no, here it has to be a production, because I overthink everything.
Our old phone was a cordless model with an answering machine. Don’t ask me what we would do if the power went out and we needed a telephone (go knocking on neighbors doors, I guess) but that’s all we have. And it’s battery is dying, it doesn’t like to be left off the hook for more than four or five minutes in a row. Sometimes the battery dies in the middle of a call, which if you think about it kinda negates the whole idea of a cordless phone.
Yes, I could just go buy a $20 battery, but it has other problems, too. Like you can’t read the number on the display anymore (taking us back to the dark ages when phones didn’t have displays!) and the answering machine sounds a lot like Charlie Brown’s teacher. Plus it’s been a long while and it’s really time for a new one.
So we researched, we talked about it, we thought about it, and finally we just about flipped a coin.
Phones have grown up some; this one came with two handsets, and it has extra display space that has room for names and such and caller ID, and is on a higher frequency (less static) than the other phone, and has a nifty intercom / forward thingie, and I’m so impressed that I finally decided to spend the hundred bucks that I came running here to blog about it.
Jealous, aren’t ya?
