I love our kitty, I really do. My son picked him for his sixth birthday, and while he can be a royal PITA sometimes, he is almost always sweet and purring and lovable.
The vet called last night to say that he has multiple fractures in his pelvis. His hips and femurs are OK, but the pelvis is just about shattered. With bed rest for several months, he might walk again. Surgery isn’t really an option, on account of it being a) very painful for him and b) extremely expensive (many thousands of dollars, at a minimum).
So today we have to decide: do we commit to putting him in a crate, with food and water, and nursing him back for the next several months in the hope that he walks again, or do we put him down?
These kinds of decisions… they just seem destined for Mondays. I really don’t know what is best.
(and a good father would put a picture here, but they’re all on the home computer, and I’m not)
