Tis the season

Adoption from a slightly different point of view:

I once wrote about a child that was very dear to us, who lived here for almost two years. Well, it was almost three years ago that he left. While searching for another file on my work computer, I stumbled across a note I typed to my boss asking for some time off. Here ’tis (names changed):

We have reached ‘transition time’ for Boo’s leaving to go to his new home. I need to be with him a few times, so I’m writing it all down.

Today: I need to leave at 3:00 PM to take Boo to meet his case worker who will tell him about his new parents.
Tomorrow (Friday): I need to leave at noon to pick up Boo and take him to meet his new parents.
Monday: Boo will be going to visit his new family, someone will pick him up early (probably by 9:00) at our house. I need to wait with him at home.
Tuesday: Nothing (I hope). Boo will be coming home in the afternoon but my wife will be able to be there at the time.
Wednesday (Halloween): Boo is leaving home for good. I wish to take off this whole day since I don’t think I’ll be able to work effectively…
