Special special forces

I love this story about the special ops guys that landed at the prison in Colorado.

Military officials said 25 heavily armed parachutists who landed in a cornfield on the grounds of a Colorado prison last week were on a training mission but landed about 3 miles off target.

“Those were Special Operations Command forces conducting routine training,” Army Col. Hans Bush, a spokesman for the command at MacDill Air Force Base, Florida, said Monday. He declined to identify the units that landed at Fremont Correctional Facility but said the target was Fremont County Airport.

Only three miles. Also, they don’t really know who they were, other than they were heavily armed (with rubber bullets). Welcome to the New America, folks.

Kids these days

I was sort of watching something on tv the other night (I think Le Tour de France) and it was time for dinner. So I hollered to the child nearest the television (who just turned four a month ago) to turn it off and come to the table.

And, she did.

Now, how did THIS happen?

The movie has been watched.

All three kids are in bed.

The dog is making obscene noises on the couch as she engages in loud self-hygiene.

And I? Am locked out of my bedroom.

yes, you read that right. Not because of anything I’ve done. My wife is recording voice clips for a class she is teaching, and needs quiet, so she shut the door. Kids don’t understand this, so I guess that’s how the door got locked. I can’t knock, because, well? Recording. If we had an “on air” light, it would be so professional and all that.

I’m sure she’ll open it before she goes to bed.

Uh, she will, won’t she?
