When size matters

We’re putting away stuff after a recent shopping excursion. I swear, I am not making this up:

Child: “What’s this?” (picks up something)

Me: “That’s a new belt, for me.”

Child: “Whoa! Look how long is it!”

Me: “Um, thanks, would you put it in my room?”

Child: (holding up his arms as far as he can): “Jesus Christ, it’s so loooong!”

Me: “My room, m’kay?”

Child (can be heard receding in the distance): “I’ve never seen anything this long. It’s as tall as me! Wow…”
