I want to start off with a bit of fun (heard about this from Will Kimbrough). This fits nicely with my usual thoughts of “I picked a bad week to quit drinking.”
Also – I’ve been walking pretty regularly all week, and for four lunches in a row I’ve had a salad. The last two mornings I’ve sat with my new grow light, but haven’t really had enough minutes to come to a decision on whether it’s effective or not.
Last night, I went out on the town with an old friend (and former college roommate). Jesus Christ I’m old. The band didn’t even start until 11:30 (that’s a half hour after your average Jimmy Buffett concert ends) and there were a few Shiner Bocks and my ears are still ringing but dayum, it was fun. Next time we’re going to bribe someone to watch the kids so my wife can come, too (she didn’t really want to go last night – school night, and she has a long day on her feet today. Probably doesn’t mind missing the ear-ringing, either)
I like my cornbread in the morning risin’
I like my cornbread when it’s nice and fresh
I like my cornbread with a little bit of butter
I like them sticky fingers when it gets so wet
Hey mama don’t you make a poor man beg
Hey mama don’t you hear what I say
I need your cornbread every day

BTW, the band was good. Do yourself a favor and check out their web site. No affiliation. And parents? Your college-age kids behaved pretty well last night. You’ve done a good job.
