The sound of thunder?

Bush went on TV a while ago and said the usual stupid things.

Like this:

“The only thing standing between these vast resources and the American
people is action from Congress,” he said. “The sooner Congress lifts
the ban, the sooner we can get these resources from the ocean floor to
the refineries to the gas pump.”

Um, yeah. And probably ten years of planning and adding
infrastructure. For what? A drop in the bucket.

Oh, yeah, drill, that’s OK with me. (I live in Texas, I’ve been
scraping tarballs off my feet at the beach since I was just a little
thing. And there are too many seagulls as it is)

But don’t hold your breath waiting for $1.00 gas again, it ain’t gonna
happen. The gap between supply and demand, world-wide, will continue
to widen. Unless you believe that we will magically add a million
barrels a day here and there AND a billion people will decide they
don’t really want a car after all.

The foundation of our economy?

Let’s see:

Airlines going belly up (and more to come, with fuel prices the way
they are you cannot also give cheap-ass airfare and survive as a
business).

GM and Ford and Chrysler are doing REAL well. Um, yeah. Our houses
are worth 15% less than a year ago. Banks are failing. Inflation
rising at the fastest pace in nearly three decades. Our politicians
want you to think things are “sound.” Yeah, right.
