Oh, hi there! It must be Sunday night. Because I’m frantically digging through the laundry to find proper uniforms for next weeks Sports Activities. And Desperate Housewives is being tivoed while I write.
What did we do this weekend? The usual.
Friday night: movies. Saw “Gridiron Gang.”
Saturday morning: Soccer at eight o’clock.
Saturday noon: Soccer at, um, noon o’clock.
Saturday afternoon: drive to McKinney to see relative in the hospital.
Saturday 6:15: arrive at ICU just after visiting hours are over. Entertain children in waiting room (“Look, coffee! Is it free, dad?”) while my wife talks with her sister.
Saturday night: go eat at a certain place in Frisco that has ‘Cheesecake” in the name. We had the first ADD Anonymous meeting (my three kids plus my nephew) and entertained / terrified fellow diners with our antics. But holy shit – why didn’t y’all tell me the cheesecake was that good? I wouldn’t have eaten so much of the $10 burger. Except that I had paid $10 for a burger and I’ll be damned if I’m not going to eat it (and no, I couldn’t eat the whole thing)
Saturday night-night: get kids to sleep at cousin’s house
Sunday morning: get up and dressed before the kids so we can run interference (my kids are morning people, their cousins are night owls, this doesn’t always work to perfection at 6:00 AM)
Sunday noon: visit the sporting good store and get new cleats for one of my Soccer Stars that was wearing a pair (by choice, we have eleven hundred pair already) that were two sizes too small and made it a point to tell his coach that his dad was too cheap to buy him new cleats.
Sunday two o’clock: visit ailing mother in law who keeps sending the meals on wheels people away because she doesn’t like their food. Fix her soaker hose and umbrella stand (I am not making this up)
Sunday 4:45: stop at the Russell Stover factory outlet in Corsicana.
Sunday night: eat, un-braid the baby’s hair (hairdressers have even more of my respect now, I can barely move my hands)
Sunday nine-ish: write this lame-o entry after hustling the kids to bed, go watch the Steelers game (Tivo) on fast forward so I can stay awake until the end. DH will have to wait until manana.
The Bengals won, the Bengals won, the Bengals won! (I’m just a wee bit excited here.) The Ravens won too. I’m attempting to follow them because oddly enough, people around here seem to care more about the Baltimore Ravens then the Cincinnati Bengals. Maybe it’s that being in Maryland thing again. *shrugs*
Kudos on surviving the weekend!
Wow, you had one seriously busy weekend!
I don’t allow myself in that place — for goodness’ sakes, the most perfect food in the world is in the name of it, and if I go in, I’m sure to set up a second home and never leave. If I ever decided to leave, they’d have to roll me out. And no amount of running could ever undo the damage I’d cause to my calorie intake in one sitting there. So i just stay away, far, far, away.
Burger, shmurger, pass the dessert!
