Right now, my kids (all three of them) are glued to “Akeelah and the Bee.” Which is really cool. It’s a movie about somebody who wants to spell. I think they can learn from it. So far there haven’t been any loud chase scenes or gratuitous kick-boxing battles between bathing beauties, but I’m sure they’re coming in the second act.

My wife is out of town for the weekend, visiting family. I probably shouldn’t say that on the internets, because now somebody will break into my house, tie me to the bed, and have their way with me.

(But only if I’m lucky).
