Well, it’s always good to know what you’re up against.
After reading this article that claims that losing weight will help your sex life (and I admit I’ll take any help I can get at this point), I decided I need to check a few things.
I went to calculate my BMI, or “how fat I am;” it wasn’t pretty. 37.3
Ahem:
Your Weight is at 98th percentile compared to others of same Height and Age
That’s like an A, right? Anything over ninety? But then I read on:
If you are at 50th percentile, you are close to the average weight.
At 90th percentile, your weight is greater than 90% of others.
At 20th percentile, then 80% of others weigh more than you.( Compared to American’s weights )
Oh. Well then. And they said I’d never amount to anything. Apparently I amount to almost two people! Heh.
So then I read on, and they have a website to calculate your “ideal” weight. They explain that ideal depends on lots of things, and they actually seem pretty fair about it. For example, it says my peers would expect someone of my age, height, and gender to be 222 pounds. But the medical community expects something between 140 – 184 pounds. Met Life says 168 – 193 pounds. And finally Dr. BJ Devine says 171 pounds.
So if I shoot for Devine’s total? I have 100 pounds to lose. God, I think I need a donut.
