Okay, y’all, I’m ready for my award: Father of the Year.
Yessir, I’ve got a sick little one. Came home yesterday with a fever. Motrin? Works wonders. Slept really good last night, but can’t go to school today.
So we’re home together, having a little male bonding time. What did we do?
a) watched “Lazy Town.” Please tell me that the little girl doesn’t really have that awful pink hair, that it’s a wig. And what’s up with the musclebound guy that doesn’t seem to have a partner? Hmm?
b) mowed the yard. The whole time I mentally composed a blog post called “I Fought the Lawn, and the Lawn Won” but by the time I was done? I said fugg it. I did manage to kill a perfectly sorta good edger. Heh.
c) bought cat food! The cats thank me. Yay.
d) McDonalds.
Yes, I took my child, with his non-fever (it really isn’t one today, just yesterday) to McDonalds. He wanted a burger with ketchup only and fries and a sprite and a toy. And by god I gave it to him. Why? Cuz if he really has the stomach flu, what better way to test his fortitude then pumping him full of grease at McDonalds? And, if he’s gonna throw up, what better place to do it than the Play Place, where they have folks that earn every penny of their minimum wage with mops and buckets?
(er, just kidding. I would have made sure we went outside for any actual hurlage. It hasn’t rained in a bit and their flowers looked like they could use some help)
Then:
e) shower. My son wanted a shower, so I said sure. 45 minutes later (after listening to him sing the whole time) I pulled him out. He was grinning ear to ear.
e1) Veggie Tales.
f) nap. He’s asleep now, apparently drained after the long shower. (oops, bad pun alert should have been a line or so back. Sorry)
So that’s today, in a nutshell.
