Snicket

I watched this last night. Because I couldn’t sleep. Until well after 2 AM. I had some Appletons on ice, and that helped, but I still couldn’t sleep.

The good thing? It so didn’t put me to sleep. I really enjoyed the story, was really interested to see how it played out, and I love dark humor. (for comparison, I also really loved War of the Roses. Dog people should marry dog people.)

I also think Emily Browning (“Violet” in the movie) is one to watch in years to come. Now maybe I can start getting hits for her in addition to the ones for Hermione / Emma Watson (a year later and 20% of the people who visit my blog are still looking for Emma Watson’s boobs)

Jim Carrey – now some people hate him, some love him, I am fascinated by how he can do characters (even if many of them seem very, very similar to each other or others he has done, that’s part of the fascination for me. Kinda like how Steve Martin will always be “The Jerk”)

I now want to get the books and read them with the kids. My kids haven’t seen the movie yet (they went to sleep, finally) and I’m not sure what they’ll think of the whole orphan / caretaker theme that prevails. Could be a fun discussion.
