I know you’ve all been on pins and needles wondering what’s going on.
We took the troops up to the vet last night, to talk with the doc and look at the x-rays. She (the vet) feels it is worth giving him a few days to see how he does. To put it bluntly, we can always euthanize later, but we can’t do the opposite.
So he’s home now, he has the hall bathroom (which was always his, at night), food and water. He does not appear to be in pain (they gave him pain killers before we left the vet, that may be why) and seems content to sit and purr. But time will tell. He needs to be eating and drinking some (and I’m not seeing much of either) to keep his strength up.
The deal with where the breaks are – there are plenty of muscles around which should hold the bones in place so they can heal. Those muscles are also surrounded by some majorly important blood vessels and nerves which make surgery risky at best. It’s better for him just to wait and see how he heals.
The kids were excited to bring him home, until we were about halfway when they all decided “he stinks” and tried to vote him off the island then and there. We said no, you have to wait for the next tribal council.
