please note: the pictures referenced here were lost when I deleted them from Buzznet. I still have them and will post them here or at Flickr and fix the links. Just not yet. (this note added 6/19/06)Okay. Scott Adams (I think) of Dilbert fame once described the internet as a bunch of pages of bad family vacation pictures that you are forced to look through, only you had to supply your own beverage.
Here’s mine.
We had some running on the beach. My kids considered this to be a “clothing optional” family place.
There was the climbing on the “dunes”. This wasn’t a real dune (put down the gun, nature lover!), this was the pile of seaweed, sand, and trash that the tractor creates every morning when they scrape the oil and seaweed off the beach so it looked nicer. My kids loved it.
Here is the view from our room.
Here is another angle of the view from our room. It’s funny, the brochure never showed or mentioned the RV park next door. All night long you could hear the giant diesel RV’s coming and going. I kept dreaming I was sleeping at a highway rest stop.
The way cool bunk beds where the kids sleep. Only the kids didn’t think it was as way cool as I did. And it creaked whenever they breathed. The top bunk? You don’t want to change the sheets. I did anyway.
I think I mentioned during the lead-up to our vaca that we were going to ride the ferryboat. We made it. Why do the kids look so sad? Cuz Homeland Security made the place like a fort. It used to be fun to ride the boat, now not so much. Perhaps they were afraid we were going to try and attack this cruise liner using our Honda and my three freedom fighters, er kids.
I think I mentioned the place we rented had been given a “beach theme,” which is only fitting. There was lots of Beach Themed items in the place, but this one was the biggest hit. To quote my four year old: “They got Lilo Stitch!”
Finally, we made it a point to skip part of the Opening Ceremonies to take a walk, and we saw this. Please don’t notice the RV’s.
That’s all for now, I hope I didn’t bore you too much. Please take your beverage container to the kitchen when you are finished!
