Feeling a little better

I’ve been cheered by friendly e-mail and from talking to the nice person at a local day care – they have a class with 10 kids in it (for or five the same age as my son, the rest a year younger) that is basically doing prep work to get ready for the school year. When the little kids take naps the bigger kids are free to do art stuff or play. That would be a much better supervisor/kid ratio than we have now and might help out.

Here’s the thing: my kid is smart, and very sharp. He is also very easily riled up (did I spell that right?) Once you know how to push his buttons you can bring up the Fists of Fury in a heartbeat.

We talk all the time:

Me: “If somebody insults you, what do you do?”

Him: “Walk away, ignore him, and tell a counselor”

An hour later somebody insults him and promptly gets punched.

*Sigh*

Is this how James Dean got started?

We interrupt today’s broadcast for a special diversion

Tatiana goes to a psychic to contact her dear departed grandmother. The psychic’s eyelids flutter, her hands float above the table and she begins moaning. Soon a voice emanates from the pyschic saying, “Granddaughter, are you there?”

Wide-eyed, Tatiana responds, “Grandmother? Is that you?”

“Yes, Granddaughter, it’s me.”

“It’s really, really you, Grandmother?” Tatiana repeats.

“Yes, my dear, it’s really me.”

Tatiana looks puzzled, “You’re sure?”

“Yes, I’m sure it’s me.”

Tatiana pauses. “Grandmother, I have just one question.”

“Anything, my child.”

“When did you learn to speak English?”

Climbing back up

Today I get the fun job of calling around and trying to find another place for my son to spend his summer.

Something with structure, adequate supervision, experienced teachers.

Something that won’t break the bank.

Something he’ll love.

Something that he can start on Monday.

Something.
