We saw “The Pacifier” yesterday; the boys and I. Pretty good, here are some highlights (not necessarily in order):
Cute kids. A duck. Gratuitous Vin Diesel in the shower scene (with followup of Vin Diesel in a towel scene). Helicopter crash (1). Minivan driven like Nascar racer (three or four times). Vin Diesel pretending he’s never seen a poopy diaper (priceless). Girl Scout Fu. Minivan Fu. Diesel Fu. Black-clad Ninja Fu. The Peter Pan Dance. Nazi’s (but it’s not what you think). A secret hideout. Boyfriend beat up by special forces guy. Duck Fu. Predictable yet still somehow funny wrestling match. Boobie jokes.
On the fun-o-meter, it’s at least as fun as Spy Kids (the first one) or Racing Stripes, but not as laugh out loud funny as Shrek or quite as tense as The Incredibles (because even when the Ninjas are attacking they don’t seem terribly menacing, but maybe I’m just jaded after seeing Constantine and Collateral in the last two weeks).
For the record we shared a “Ring-2” bucket of popcorn, a cherry coke, and I let the boys have candy (which I should never do because it’s so freakin’ expensive, but I didn’t have a purse and/or the foresite to sneak it in)
Check it out.
I love our kitty, I really do. My son picked him for his sixth birthday, and while he can be a royal PITA sometimes, he is almost always sweet and purring and lovable.
The vet called last night to say that he has multiple fractures in his pelvis. His hips and femurs are OK, but the pelvis is just about shattered. With bed rest for several months, he might walk again. Surgery isn’t really an option, on account of it being a) very painful for him and b) extremely expensive (many thousands of dollars, at a minimum).
So today we have to decide: do we commit to putting him in a crate, with food and water, and nursing him back for the next several months in the hope that he walks again, or do we put him down?
These kinds of decisions… they just seem destined for Mondays. I really don’t know what is best.
(and a good father would put a picture here, but they’re all on the home computer, and I’m not)
