In trying to get a grip on just how huge the profit just posted by Exxon for last quarter is, I decided to break it down.

It’s just thirty-nine cents a day. Every day of the past three months. Per person. in America.

Yes, my family of five would contribute $2.00 a day. And we don’t even shop at Exxon (in homage to all the dead wildlife in Valdez, besides - what do they need my money for?)

Oh, yeah, in other news, housing prices have dropped the most year-over-year than they have since I was four years old. And the Cowboys don’t have a quarterback, but then what else is new?

Have a lovely day.

This can’t go by without comment.

Exxon, who made $10 billion in profit this year (that’s with a ‘B’ in case you missed it), thinks it shouldn’t have to pay the $5 billion in damages from when their drunk tanker captain ruined half of Valdez.

(anyone who tells you Valdez has been “cleaned up” has no idea. That ecosystem will never be the same, and the people that depended on it have long ago had to change their lives)

Why do oil companies like playing God? Oh, yeah, it’s because we (the people) let them.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Exxon Mobil Corp. on Thursday posted a quarterly
profit of $9.9 billion, the largest in U.S. corporate history, as it raked
in a bonanza from record oil and gas prices.

Yeah. I shoulda bought stock all those years ago. This is why they need
govt. assistance to build more refineries, by the way.
