Well, I figured out why my blog was getting all “blogger” on me.
I use a plugin called “Ultimate Tag Warrior”. This is how I put handy tags on the posts. Well, when Wordpress upgraded to 2.04 last week or so (and said it was a required upgrade due to security issues), I upgraded.
Guess what? Any post that didn’t already have a tag suddenly got a blank tag whenever somebody looked at it. “Somebody”, I think, includes robots like Google, because by the time I looked at the database I had over 250,000 empty entries. That’s 250,000 blank tags attached to posts.
So, I did an SQL thingamajig and nuked. them. all.
That was the “gulp” moment, like what if I’m removing more than just the blank entries?
So far, so good.
(I’d put a tag on this post but I’ve disabled the plugin for the moment until it gets sorted out)
Edit: fixed it, they updated the plugin.

ESC
try autometa. it suggests tags based on the content of your post, and you can edit and add your own.

Well, I’m home and not at work so I’m sure it will be there when I go to work on Monday. Glad they arrived, hope she likes them.
