Movies!

Movies! You know I like ’em.

Last night I started to watch “Category 7” or whatever it was called
on CBS. I lasted about six minutes.

First of all, they kept talking about a ‘Category 6’ tornado. That
bugged the hell out of me, since tornadoes usually have a “force”
number – F1, F2, etc. Why weren’t they using the proper terms? It’s
a disaster movie, you gotta at least make it believable.

Speaking of believable, the puppets in Team America, World Police had
much better acting. And camera work. And direction. I’m just
sayin’. Hell, Barney (the big purple dinosaur) showed more range of
emotion.

Yeah, I figured all this out in the first six minutes. I’m pretty bright, eh?

So, I did what anyone else would do, and I watched Kung Fu Hustle. A
truly strange movie that seemed to be part comedy, part cartoon, and
mostly kick ass kung fu action. Six minutes into THAT I was about to
turn it off, since I couldn’t really figure out what it was about, but
I hung on and by the end I was swearing I wanted to watch it again and
hoping for a sequel. So yeah, I kinda liked that one. A bunch.

Also? We saw Chicken Little this weekend; which was a lot of fun. At
least the eighteen minutes I saw of it (let’s just say the baby
doesn’t quite “get” movies yet). I had to take the baby since my wife
was otherwise busy being in agony after having toe surgery. But the
movie just got the baby overly excited (she actually wanted to sit
with her big brother, as far from Dad as she could get, but then walk
back to dad every 4.2 seconds for more popcorn, the people in the row
in front of us were a little less amused than were the people behind
us, who just figured it was all part of the show)

Anyway, the beginning, about six minutes of the middle, and five
minutes a little bit before the end were pretty good. Not “Shrek”
good, but probably “Madagascar” good. We’ll probably end up owning it
on DVD, but like “Racing Stripes” only watch it once in a while,
unlike Smallville or Star Wars which we have pretty much worn the
DVD’s out.

So, did y’all see any movies recently? Do tell.
