I love my radio station

So I’ll hang around as long as you will let me
And I never minded standin’ in the rain. No,
You don’t have to call me darlin’, darlin’
You never even call me, I wonder why you don’t call me
Why don’t you ever call me by my name.

Like smoke

Why, dear internets, is peace and happiness so elusive?

(that could be a good essay question, huh.)

I share bits and pieces of life with my family here, not too much (I hope) to bore you beyond tears, but just so you kinda know what we are experiencing.

A little over a week ago we hit a true low point, behavior-wise. Things were tense. Like dogs and cats tossed into a bag and shaken around tense.

Then? It got better. We made some changes. The clouds parted. The son shined. It was good. Last weekend, besides having soccer rained out and missing the blogmeet, was pretty darn good. (oh, and not finishing the laundry or mowing the lawn and and and…)

Then yesterday a sudden thunderstorm appeared and blew our little bit of bliss all to hell. And we’re knocked on our asses wondering if we were all the way back to square one or just having a bump on the road. The vacation I talked about yesterday? We don’t dare move on it (things like “non-refundable deposit” are taken seriously at our house) for fear that things may get worse. By the time we know things are improving, it will be too late to book anything, probably.

So, for now, we’ve stopped, dropped, and rolled. We’re feeling our way to the exit, to try and get an idea of just how bad this particular fire is going to get. Hopefully it’s just some burned microwave popcorn – stinky, but manageable.
