oops!

Earlier this evening i was deleting a bunch of duplicate posts (from back in 2004) and it seems I’ve done something to my database.  Working on it, but for now when you click comments or on the permalink for an entry, you get the Archives page.

Sorry bout that…

Update: seems to be working now (redid the permalinks), we’ll see if it happens again.  Thanks, Skatemom, for the heads up!

The power of marketing

My son, who is eight I might add, is lobbying hard for an Ipod.

HARD.

People, he is willing to give up any and all treats for one whole year if it’ll net him an Ipod.  This is a kid who has a hard time waiting for the weekend so that he can go to the dollar store and pick out something.

So, of course, I ask him why he wants an Ipod.  Why not just an MP3 player?

“Well, an Ipod has really cool accessories and stuff that you can add to it.”

See, he wants accessories.  OK, then.

What were you doing 19 years ago today?

Think back for a second.  19 years ago.  What were you up to that day?

I’ll give you a clue to help you remember: it was a Saturday.

A Saturday like no other, at least to me.  For I was standing at the front of a church, watching my bride walk down the aisle, smiling and crying all at once.  And we were joined in holy matrimony, for better or worse.  And then we went to the Holiday Inn and had cake and margaritas and listened to an Irish band.

And when we walked out that night, we were man and wife, and we still are.  For better, for worse, for richer and for poorer.  In sickness and in health.  And two shall be as one.
