Y’all come back now, ya hear?

People here in Texas have trouble with all those “shalls” and “shall nots” in the Ten Commandments.

Folks here just aren’t used to talking in those terms. So, some folks out in west Texas got together and translated the “King James” into “King Ranch” language:

The Cowboy’s Ten Commandments (posted on the wall at Cross Trails Church in Fairlie, Texas)

  1. Just one God.
  2. Honor yer Ma & Pa.
  3. No tellin’ tales or gossipin’.
  4. Git yourself to Sunday meetin’.
  5. Put nothin’ before God.
  6. No foolin’ around with another fellow’s gal.
  7. No killin.’
  8. Watch yer mouth.
  9. Don’t take what ain’t yers.
  10. Don’t be hankerin’ for yer buddy’s stuff.

Now that’s kinda plain an’ simple, don’t ya think? Y’all have a good day.

Baby steps

So, I bought a heart rate monitor!  Isn’t that great?

(uh, sure, is what you should be saying now)

So I went for a walk with it.  With the dogs.  We didn’t dawdle, but we didn’t run either.  I was pretty impressed, I averaged 125 bpm (“beats per minute,” I had to look that up) and was quite excited.

Then I started looking, and for somebody my age, etc, I should be averaging 140 bmp at least, just to burn some fat (which is really all I need to be doing right now).  So next time I’ll leave the dogs here and see what I can do by running.  Some.

Sniff…

I feel so… growed up.

I’ve got my first pingback spam!

Yeah, don’t click any of the pingbacks.  Looks like they hit about six of my entries, I need to go nuke them and ban the IP and all that crap.  But I was busy watching Aeon Flux (Charlize? Rowr) so I haven’t done anything yet.

Funny that I have spam filters all over the comments, but all these pingbacks get through.  Huh.

Update: banned the IP, and deleted the buggers.  That’s too easy, not nearly satisfying enough.  Next time I’ll find a way to involve a flamethrower and grenades.
