A blogging diet, or blogging about diet, or diet blogging?

Confused?

I found, through Boing, Boing, a fantastic blog account of how Jeremy lost 50 pounds over the course of a year.  Now, being somebody who needs to lose (at least) 100 pounds, this naturally caught my eye.

First of all, here’s the link.

Now, let’s put a little tidbit out there:

This week I’ll publish a series of short articles that explain the simple plan and the various tactics I used to drop nearly 50 pounds (or 5 belt inches and one shirt size) in the course of last year.

The advice I’ll give isn’t likely to be all that different that what you might read elsewhere, but the combination is what worked well for me. Hopefully it’ll motivate a few more people to do the same. I learned a lot about my habits and behavior in the process and suspect that much of it applies to most people who are struggling with extra pounds.

Includes a spreadsheet, tips on setting goals, habits you need to change, how to eat less, everything!  I’m sold.  I’ve had great success at losing some pounds over the past several weeks, but I’ll let you in in a secret: I can lose weight.  I’ve done it before, plenty of times.  It keeps finding me again.

This time I want to lose it for good.

Never forget

With all the focus this week legalizing discrimination against fellow Americans, it’s easy to forget the hell we have unleashed on other folks.  In fact, you might say that is exactly why we are even discussing gay marriage at this point – it certainly hasn’t been important enough to talk about for the last two years, but hey, isn’t that an election coming up?  Gotta divide the country again, quick!

Emily Dickinson wrote, “hope is a thing with feathers”. If what she wrote is true, then hope has flown far- very far- from Iraq…

From Baghdad: There’s an ethnic cleansing in progress and it’s impossible to deny. People are being killed according to their ID card. Extremists on both sides are making life impossible. Some of them work for ‘Zarqawi’, and the others work for the Iraqi Ministry of Interior. We hear about Shia being killed in the ‘Sunni triangle’ and corpses of Sunnis named ‘Omar’ (a Sunni name) arriving by the dozen at the Baghdad morgue. I never thought I’d actually miss the car bombs. At least a car bomb is indiscriminate. It doesn’t seek you out because you’re Sunni or Shia.
