He’s Baaaack!

Hi y’all…

Thanks for the notes of concern; I’ve been out of town taking care of family business. I’m back at work (and remotely in control) today so hopefully I’ll have something witty and/or earthshattering to share soon.

Right now I desperately need about six more hours of sleep…

How typical.

This sums up the people I deal with every day. This is me trying to change a doctor’s appointment for my daughter, since we aren’t going to be here tomorrow (Friday).

I call the place. Deal with the phone tree, the recording (“all associates are busy”), finally get a live one.

Me: “I’d like to cancel an appointment for my daughter, we’ll be out of town tomorrow”

(after confirming identity of said daughter and canceling the appt.)

Her: “Would you like to reschedule?”

Me: “sure.”

Her: “We have an opening next Thursday.”

Me: “Do you have anything on Friday?” (on the off chance that my wife could possibly take her, so Daddy isn’t the only one associated with needles and doctors and rectal thermometers)

Her: “No, the doctor doesn’t work on Fridays.”

Me: “But… we had an appointment for tomorrow, which is a Friday.”

Her: “I’m sorry, the doctor doesn’t work on Fridays. Ever.

Me: *pounding head on desk* “OK, Thursday it is then…”

Kid talk

My son, this morning, said, “I bet Poppa is talking to GG today. Because, he can now.”

(GG is short for ‘great grandmother’, my mom’s mother who passed away three years ago)

Then my son continued, “You can probably have treats, there (in heaven), but I bet God will make you eat first before you get a treat.”

I can’t hug my kids tight enough today.
