Two can play

Another song of the day, inspired by the lovely Mindy. I truly cannot say enough great things about this woman that I will likely never meet, but has somehow managed to get through to me in some way. I guess maybe I can say that I understand a fraction of what she might be going through, even if through an entirely different set of lenses. Cheers, girl.

SAME RIVER TWICE

The water flows by this holy place
and I am anointed here
But when I come back to get my fill
I find It’s disappeared
Wound through these hills and these valleys
Far from these yearnings of mine
Past the most modest of my expectations
Around the world in time

You can’t step into the same river twice
You can’t step into the same river twice

All we have are these moments
And memories of moments we’ve had
And if I’d lost this song today
I wouldn’t feel that bad
Cause I remember that moment
As real as the love in the air
And I might like to remember that moment
But I can’t go back there

You can’t step into the same river twice
You can’t step into the same river twice

I know what happens when two people are as one
The heavens open when love has begun
I know what happens when all is said and done
We’re left to contemplate
and live in this new moment’s sun
and love from this new moment on…….

You can’t step into the same river twice
You can’t step into the same river twice

It’s a tune by Darryl Purpose. I’ve had the pleasure to meet him a few times, and listen to him sing. Unforgettable. Chances are he’ll wind up near you at some time; if you see him tell him we still sing along back here in College Station. Follow the link to see lyrics to other songs from the same album (I particularly recommend “Last Great Kiss of the 20th Century” and “Mr. Schwinn” and “Singer Songwriter Heaven”, if I had to pick)

Darryl’s home page with gigs and you can buy stuff or e-mail him.

I got nothin’

I have a whole lot of nothing to report. So much, I’ll do bullets:

  • It’s still cold. Hovered at 36 all day. At least the rain stopped. Remember, yesterday morning it was 70 outside when I left for work.
  • The baby (last I heard) doesn’t really have a fever, but she’s all clogged up so she stayed home with mom (who is trying to paint) and nobody really slept well last night. Thank you all for your well wishes!
  • The news today is just as depressing as yesterday. So I won’t comment on that. Except Delta is lowering fares (yay!) and others will do so (yay!) but that will make a troubled airline industry even more troubled (boo!) and ultimately may lead to somebody going bankrupt (boo!)
  • Does anybody really think that they won’t approve Gonzales as our next whatever? Or that he’ll actually abide by anything he says at this point? My faith in elected officials (of all colors and stripes) is low, the only thing lower is my faith in the people they appoint to powerful jobs.
  • Okay, enough of that shit. I wasn’t going to comment and then look. Did you see where Ashlee got booed at the Orange Bowl the other night? Seems her microphone was working fine and it wasn’t lip-synch. Poor baby.
  • Teri Hatcher told FHM she hasn’t had sex in four years. But she stays in shape by pole dancing.
  • And why do the Playboy models always fall for the skinny tattooed guy? WTF?
  • This guy must have my HMO. Looks like he had to wait forever for a Cat-scan, too. Probably had to get it approved first.
  • Hey, speaking of frivoulous lawsuits, here’s some guy that got sick watching Fear Factor and now wants NBC to pay him $2.5 million to help his tummy feel better. Poor baby.
