Alton Brown’s Protégé

You can’t make this stuff up, folks:

Child: “Mom, what’s in this?”
Mom: “Carrots, onions, celery, beef… it’s just stew.”
Child 2: “Are you asking because you want to make it yourself?”
Child: “No, cuz it tastes bad.”

numbers game

After the introduction of our newest U.S. budget, I heard a BBC newscaster who kept saying “2.5 thousand million dollars.” At least I think that’s what they said.

Okay, first off I thought this sounded cool, since it’s such a big number. Plus she had a British accent and I was drooling just a little bit.

So when I was about to write this entry, I found this page about large numbers and realized that everything is different, depending on which side of the pond you are speaking from. And the fun factoid is it’s all based on French, which would probably cause Congress to get it’s freedom fries in a wad if they thought about it much. And I found this reference and okay, one more, that even mentions a zillion.

Five to one, one in five

One in five of the page hits I received last night were for a google image search for Emma Watson’s boobs.

Um, okay. Actually, it’s closer to two in five, once you count the various GIS servers (poland, UK, france, etc.)
