Where’s C3PO when you need him?

I need help translating the following:

Your appointment [blah blah]231 has been confirmed for 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM on 04/20/2005. We appreciate your business and look forward to providing timely service to you.

Sincerly,

Dell Computer Corporation

Dude on the phone: “Sir, you do not have an appointment. Would you like to set one up?”

Fuck. All this for a warranty part that I could buy (and plug in myself) for $100 or so.

Don’t panic!

When I’m having a long day, I love to read excerpts from the Book of Doug:

A hole had just appeared in the Galaxy. It was exactly a nothingth of a second long, a nothingth of an inch wide, and quite a lot of million light years from end to end. As it closed up […] Two hundred and thirty-nine thousand lightly fried eggs fell out of it…materializing in a large woobly heap on the famine-struck land of Poghril in the Pansel system. The whole Poghril tribe had died out from famine except for one last man who died of cholesterol poisoning some weeks later.

‘You know, said Arthur, ‘it’s at times like this, when I’m trapped in a Vogon airlock with a man from Betelgeuse, and about to die of asphyxiation in deep space, that I really wish I’d listened to what my mother told me when I was young.’

‘Why, what did she tell you?’

‘I don’t know, I didn’t listen.’

I thought the movie was called “The Poseidon Adventure”

Now they are saying that the ship that was hit by the big wave was rushing back to New York for a Sunday morning product placement on The Apprentice.

Question: Why would you pay “seven figures” to show a cruise ship on your TV show? Aren’t there like, plenty of cruise ships around? Hasn’t pretty much everybody seen one at one point or another? Sounds fishy to me.
