Not so much fun

I have nothing at all today. I’m mentally wiped out from following the news from the gulf coast (and I’m unaffected, I can’t imagine living there or having family there). I’m worried about long term effects (don’t listen to folks that say there will be “minimal” effects from this storm, they’re just trying to do spin control).

Nothing seems to sound good to blog, or say, or do, so I’m just kinda shuttin’ myself down today. Maybe later I’ll perk up.

Y’all stay safe…

Things that keep me up at night

Yeah yeah, I know — this is a long ass article. But this is part of my recent obsession; sweating these issues. I hope there is less gloom and doom in the coming years than is being predicted…

HoweStreet.com: “Regardless of what oil prices do, this house of cards is so shaky that it will eventually collapse of its own accord. All credit bubbles eventually collapse. This one will not be different. The moral implications of letting this bubble get so far out of hand lie with Greenspan and the Fed.”

Dallas Serenity preview

Of course I can’t make it (it’s a school night and I can’t afford two tanks of gas this week, anyway) but some of y’all may be interested:

There is a free “Serenity” screening on Wednesday, August 31st, at 7:30pm in Dallas, Texas. Thanks to the very (VERY!) nice people at Universal Studios and the good people at FedEx, I’ve got the passes on my desk right now. They’re available to all D/FW area Browncoats on a first-come, first-served basis.

If you want a pass, you must send me an e-mail at dravecky at gmail dot com right away. I’ll give you the exact location and details on picking up the passes in my confirmation reply.

Please put the word SERENITY in the subject line so the filter catches it properly. Thanks and good luck. Tell your friends! Spread the word!

And PLEASE let me know if and when you go see this. I’m insanely jealous…
