1. What is the one TV show that you watch but would be ashamed to admit it?

Believe it or not, I think the Kids Next Door is one of the best written shows on television. That and Jimmy Neutron. So, there’s two…

2. Have you ever been arrested?

(sigh). I promised to be honest, and so I’ll say yes I have. For an unpaid traffic ticket, for not providing proof of insurance (while I was driving a company car). I thought the company had handled everything six months before. Oh, and I was on a date at the time of my incarceration…

3. Who do you think is prettier, Betty or Veronica?

Vernonica, certainly. I have this thing for dark hair..

Hmm…let’s see.

1. Coffee or tea?

Coffee. I should own a coffee plantation, but I’d go broke for lack of a product to sell, since I’d drink it all up.

2. If you could have your children meet with their birthparents (unless it wouldn’t be safe or wise to do so), would you?

Yes, I would. I don’t feel threatened by them at all, partly because of our unique situation. And my kids are desperate to know everything they can about where they came from.

3. What’s your favorite 3AM music?

Probably Jack Ingram or Todd Snider, since they have great music but also lyrics that are just wicked good.

1. How old were you when you had your first real (french) kiss?

Fifteen. I was an extremely shy person (still am) and was clueless about dating. She just about tackled me the first week of school, she wasn’t so clueless and I was apparently at the top of her list of guys to kiss that year. Thanks for the flashback…

2. At what age will you let your daughter date?

Oh, man, she’s still in diapers! I have to think about this already? Hmm, I’d be lying if I say middle school. I’d rather she wait to sixteen, but I’m realistic enough to know she probably won’t wait that long (she’s more than a little independent, even at two)

3. At what age would you be comfortable with your sons having sex…your daughter?

Forty! If then.

Okay, first of all, some of this might be TMI. Just to warn you in case you have your child sitting next to you while blogging. Second of all, I’ll break this into a couple posts so it doesn’t get tooooo long and all that.

And thank you to everyone who asked, these are some excellent questions and there are some folks that I didn’t know even read my blog. I’m not gonna link to your blog in the answers but the questions are in the comments a couple entries down… and if anybody else wants to ask three questions, feel free!

1. Do you ever hold lengthy conversations with your kids’ toys without even thinking about the fact that you are talking to a toy?

No, I don’t talk with the toys. The dog? Definitely. And she understands me, really she does.

2. What are your feelings on Spumoni?

I like spumoni but it has been forever (decades) since I’ve had any. So I guess that means I don’t like it enough to get some 🙂

3. And now for the obligatory sex question:Did you end up finding a good vibrator for the Mrs.?

I found what I thought was a great vibrator. Well, that’ll teach me to think. She didn’t like it, and it’s been stuck in our toybox since the first week. Oh well, different strokes and all that. (I’m still having fun finding new toys, though…)

Shari inquires:
1. What was the thought process leading up to your decision to foster/adopt two of your children? (This is not just bald curiosity – my husband are beginning the adoption process soon)

This is probably too complex to answer well here, but what happened was we signed up to be foster parents, wanting to help kids that needed it. Then, we kinda fell in love with a couple of the kids, and it worked out. (In many other cases we fell in love but it didn’t work out). Our third, the baby, was an adoptive placement from the beginning, although she was also a foster child at the time she came to live with us.

2. What has given you the deepest joy in your life?

my family! Um, that would be my wife and kids…

3. Finish this sentence: “The only thing worth anything in this world is…”

“not able to be bought or sold.”
