We’re off!

In another followup to this post, I’ll tell you what we have going on this summer (since the kids are out of school this week):
Three main destinations: Beach, Windy City, Pittsburgh.
Two main modes of travel: planes and automobiles.
Spread out over the next three months…
Well, what a weekend! And it’s not even midnite on Saturday!
We’ve had:
- Dancing
- singing
- Feeding ducks (they like Teddy Grahams better than Ritz Bits)
- paper airplanes
- a random basketball (nobody knows who it belongs to)
- picking “flowers”
- screaming
- crying
And – that was just at the cemetery!
We also had two basketball games (one high school, one six years old and under), too much to eat, movies, and about nine hours in the van.
* The future’s uncertain, and the end is always near
In fact, I had so much fun, I’ll just have to tell you about it later. I’m pooped, and I’m going to look up some stuff for my run tomorrow and go to bed.
So, where was I?
Oh yeah. A long way to go and a short time to get there…
12:40 – head out on the highway. Looking for adventure. And whatever comes my way.
12:42 – remember “wait, that ain’t me.” Stop for gas and coffee.
1:50 – “I need to go to the restroom!” heard from the way back of the van.
1:52 – on the road again. At 90 mph, we’re making good time. The sky is clear, it’s not hot (for the first time since May or so), traffic is not heavy. Moving right along…
2:55 – stopped on the highway, five miles from the church. Road construction. Sign helpfully says “expect delays.”
3:20 – sneak in the back of the church to catch the baptism in progress.
4:00 – mass starts
4:12 – take the baby out of church because she will. not. be. have.
5:10 – what seems like the longest mass in recent memory has finally come to a conclusion. Other folks convinced I must beat my children or at least feed them amphetamines in order to get them to act as rudely (and loudly) as they did. We make our escape. Time to head to my sister’s and Par-tay
to be concluded…
