So this is how the other half lives?

I’m on my bed, with a glass of wine. Cheap wine. I’m writing this entry, I just checked the weather and e-mail, I’ve checked out a few other blogs.

And the Incredibles is playing in another window, in glorious stereo surround.

Yeah, I could get used to this.

Shhhh… my wife’s coming to get her computer back…

I was on the bed, alone, waiting. Watching for a signal. Just in case. I didn’t think it was likely, but I was ready.

Then it happened: “Unsecured wireless connection found… connecting.”

Aha!

I could now access the internets from the comfort and safety of my own king sized bed. I could watch Food Network and blog at the same time! I was in heaven.

Or, so I thought. The signal was “very low,” or “sucked eggs,” had the programmer had a lick of sense. And then it kept dropping out, so it became more of a pain in the ass to re-connect, so I put the laptop away and tried to make myself useful.

But, for a few moments, I had a taste of what y’all are always going on about. Surfing from a laptop, in bed, no wires, no limits.

Damn, I think I need a smoke.

Since this is pretty much a non-issue for me, I’m still dying to get a laptop for my wife for Christmas. Like I would get to use it, anyway.

Anybody know where the best deals are? Or should I just get a Dell?
