From Randi:
I just saw on your sidebar that it’s 68 and dreary.
yeah, real dreary when it’s 68.
Try 5 degrees with 4 feet of snow..THAT’S dreary!
She has photographic evidence, too.

It is now “winter” here, as it is in much of the northern hemisphere. Only “here” is kinda quirky.
It has not snowed in our town during my kids‘ lifetimes.
It has iced or sleeted like two, three times tops in the last ten years.
Every year or two, some weather system heads our way and the Weather People say things like “maybe” and “possibly” we might see some frozen precip.
Lemme tell ya - this is big news. We have been talking for a week about a system (perhaps you’ve heard of it, passed through Denver a day ago) that shouldn’t be here until Tuesday. “Do you think we’ll see ice?” “Do you think we’ll get off work?” “Dad, will they close the school?” “I wanna build a snowman.” You get the idea. Most of these predictions turn out to be false, because the weather doesn’t come this far south, or it isn’t cold enough before the rain quits, whatever. A couple years ago it snowed in Houston. Missed us. Anyway.
But guess what? Temperatures in North Texas are plummetting. This afternoon in Dallas it was 68 degrees and in Denton it was in the low 40’s. Denton is what, thirty miles from Dallas?
Now, it’s forty something in Waco, halfway from here to Dallas.
I’m no good at math, but I think by morning, unless something changes, it’ll be here. Three days early.
Yippee.

When the weather guy says there is a “cold front” coming, he really means:
“it might drop below 70 degrees before sunrise. Maybe even all the way down to 68.”
Update (the next morning): it made it down to 71. Good try, cold front! Maybe next time! But the humidity dropped to only 65%, so it feels heavenly.
Wow, what a difference.
Right now:
66°F
RealFeel®
60°F
Winds: NNE
at 12mph
yesterday morning it was almost 80 degrees by now.
And Skatemom? We found your rain. Had a walk in it this morning, in fact.
