Rainy day

Yes, our lil’ bit of parched earth is getting some much needed rain today. Hopefully they are a little over-enthusiastic about the whole “tornadoes,” “damaging winds,” and “hail” comments in the forecast.

I just came across this article about sexual frustration and relationship issues related to it. Wowzers.

Getting a grip.

If you’ve been reading me, you’ve seen me acting pretty down low lately.

I just wanted to pop in here and say that today, so far (needs a disclaimer), is pretty darn good.

I ran this morning, three miles – didn’t break any speed records, but didn’t feel hurt. I have a new pair of shoes, again, and they seem to be working OK. It was cool, freaky cool for almost May here, and only one car tried to run me off the road. Mental jukebox: CCRWRSWAM.*

I seem to have a spring in my step, I’ve managed to semi-placate thirty people this morning, so I’ll be allowed to stick around another day or two.

Maybe it’s the free donuts somebody brought to work. Maybe it’s because I got lucky last night. I’m banking on the lucky.

*CCRWRSWAM is catchy:

Idiot newscaster on CNN questioning whether texting causes STD’s in teen girls.

Never thought to question how actively discouraging condom use (“just say no”) might be playing into this.

No! If we tell kids to wrap that rascal, they’ll have more sex! It’ll be like we are encouraging them!

Instead, we’ll just bury our heads in the sand. Surely they won’t be dumb enough to actually (gasp) have sex if they don’t have a condom….

shop till you drop

I was walking into the kitchen and passed a shopping lift on loose leaf paper, titled “Wal-Mart.”

I did a huge double take, because the first item on the list said “Sex for mom.”

Then I read it again, and it actually said ‘Sox.’

Damn.

More than 1 million cases of chlamydia were reported in the United States last year — the most ever reported for a sexually transmitted disease, federal health officials said Tuesday.

A new U.S. record,” said Dr. John M. Douglas Jr. of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Note: this is absolutely NOT related to my last entry.
