Then… nothing happened.

After a while, nothing continued to happen.

Hope y’all are well. We are doing Home Stuff, which means Get Organized or Die Trying Week. For inspiration we are watching the HGTV shows where the designer goes to the persons house and makes them throw away their crap, amidst tears and gnashing of teeth.

The kids haven’t drawn (much) blood yet, the dogs only ran away three times yesterday, and there’s only an 80% chance of thunderstorms (some possibly severe) today, so of course they’ll wanna ride bikes all day.

In the Lard Ass department, I ran 3 1/2 miles today, before dawn. It was good. It was humid. But I did it. I’m planning on five miles on Sunday to finish out the year in a good way. I was going to do it Monday but that would be just kidding myself.

There’s not much point in watching TV, we get Wall-to-Wall coverage of the Greatest Dead President Since Reagan, also all the “best of” and “worst of” 2006 shows and “how to get organized or die trying.” Nothing I wanna see.

It just started raining. Hard. Must be time to run to the store!

Christmas break is the perfect time to tear up perfectly good (yet cluttered) living spaces and get ready to remodel. Or, so I hear.

And ‘remodel’ is our own cheapass way of doing it, we can’t afford a real rip-down-the-walls type of remodel, so today we are:

Replacing the kitchen faucet, which after a dozen years has begun leaking in ways that faucets shouldn’t

Re-organize our bedroom closet, and part of our bedroom, a process that began weeks ago

Drop off another case of books at Half Price Books and hope we actually leave the store with less books than we brought in. This time.

If any of this sounds like “chores” or “forced labor,” I need to add that Santa Claus came again at our house last night. Twice.

And I still haven’t lost the smile on my face…

Finish line

Kids at the party.

Lost our last soccer game, but are now playing that team again tomorrow for the championship.

Aggie’s blew it with 20 seconds left.

My wife cooked tenderloin for dinner, and I have red wine in hand. Any questions?

Half-way

Let’s see. So far today:

Three soccer games. Won all three. One more game to go, in about an hour.

Watching Aggie game. Won’t mention the score, it was tied not too long ago.

Pizza party - I missed it, but my wife and two kids made it. Still have brownies leftover.

Saw my niece, for about ten minutes. God damn, she’s too young to be eighteen already. I remember rocking and burping her and singing rock songs softly so she would sleep. That couldn’t have been seventeen and a half years ago.

Could it?

Busy Bear

I know, everyone loves to hear about how busy bloggers are on their day off work. But really, I am.

I won’t give the full schedule, just the highlights. This is Saturday, I can’t even think about Sunday yet:

Four soccer games
One soccer party
Watch Aggie game on TV
My sons first “boy/girl” party (costumes!)
my niece may be visiting, she’s going to the game and we’d like to see her before or after

Oh, and to start the morning right, I ran 10K this AM for the first time.
