I’ve decided how I want to break into television.

I want to be one of those people who get fed at the very end of a cooking show. You know, the gaggle of “friends” that get to ooh and aah when the steak is served, and then go “yum” when dessert is brought out. And all the while enjoy cocktail time. You don’t have to cook, or clean up, or shop – just show up when it’s time to eat and murmer in the background.

So, wonder how you get started?

lunch a la Mindy

I wanna be like one of my heroes. Here’s a recent Mindy meal:

Grilled panini with chicken, havarti, avocado, garlic aioli and garlic lemonnaise (done on the Foreman grill — it’s good for something!)
Baked Portobello mushroom caps topped with Alouette and bread crumbs (even better the second time with prosciutto added)
Mozzarella boccanchini and tomato salad with marinade
Selection of marinated olives
Mango and papaya slices wrapped in thinly sliced prosciutto
Fresh strawberries
Spinach, arugala, and sliced strawberry salad with vinaigrette
Mimosas
Chocolate on chocolate layer cake (for Logan’s early birthday celebration with my folks)

Here was my lunch today:

Turkey slices on Wonder “white wheat” bread with Miracle whip and sliced “american” cheese (Albertson’s brand)
Peanut butter (Jif, cuz I’m a choosy mother) and strawberry jelly on the same kind of wonder bread.
A glass of wine (it says “burgundy” on the label but probably should just say “red.” I bought four litres for about $8, but it comes in a glass jug and has a screw on cap)
Little Debbie oatmeal creme cake. Bought a box at the dollar store for lunch snacks. There’s one left. Oops.
All while watching “Racing Stripes” and laughing at David Spade while the kids go “was that funny, dad?”

The kids ate popcorn.
