Hell, I didn't even encourage the youngest two to <i>walk</i>. The progression from crawling to walking to running to <i>running-away-from-mommy-in-public-places</i> whizzed by at lighting speed. Why teach them to swim when they are perfectly happy playing in the sprinkler?<i> I'm just sayin'.</i> I figured out long ago that encouraging my kids to swim is opening a doorway to them leaving.
